Change a word. Explore its meaning.
AffixHop helps children ages 6–8 explore selected meanings of re- and un-. Change a familiar word, predict its meaning, and compare the prediction with a visual scene or sequence. Feedback explains the chosen word and the task goal separately.
Again, undo an action, not a state
Again shows an action happening again. Undo an action explores words such as unwrap, unpack and untie from an appropriate starting state. Not that state compares descriptions such as untidy and unfinished; it does not turn every word into an undo action.
36 activities for short sessions
24 guided activities introduce the ideas. 12 transfer challenges use base words not taught in that module’s guided activities. Hear a base word explained, tap a choice and prediction, then compare. There are hints and saved practice reports, without timers, rankings or streak pressure. Reports describe activity, not reading ability.
Three free demos, a trial and one purchase
Three guided demos stay free, one per module. A parent may activate a full 7-day trial through Apple; installing does not start it. Unlock Forever is planned at US$5.99 for all 36 V1 activities. No subscription or automatic charge. Apple shows the current price before purchase. After trial expiry, demos, saved progress, reports, backup/import and purchase restoration remain available. Family Sharing is not offered.
Offline activities, parent choices
Activities, graphics and prerecorded narration are bundled. No app account, ads, third-party tracking or online AI. Progress stays local by default; optional private iCloud sync and file backups are controlled by a parent. AffixHop is planned for the US App Store in American English on iPad and iPhone with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. It is a focused practice app, not a complete phonics course, reading assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
