Children and local data
BotSteps is designed for children ages 6–8 and their parents. No account, child identity, birthday, email or profile is requested in the app. We do not collect personal information through the app. Progress, completion counts, the current program, settings and up to 20 custom missions stay on the device. Use a playful mission title instead of a real name. Custom content is never published or uploaded.
Audio, permissions and tracking
Fixed English voice prompts are bundled with the app and play offline. The app does not listen or record. No camera, microphone, photos, location, contacts, Bluetooth or notification permission is requested. There are no ads, tracking, third-party analytics or third-party crash reporting SDKs.
Trial and Apple purchases
Trial start and last observed time are stored in the device Keychain and may remain after reinstalling. This seven-day trial is not a subscription. Apple processes the single lifetime purchase and restores through StoreKit. The app checks verified transactions for access. Hailink Labs does not receive payment card details or run a receipt server. Apple may process purchase and diagnostic information under its own policies and your device settings.
Storage and deletion
There is no app backend, cloud sync, public sharing or export. Reset Progress removes structured mission progress. Custom missions can be deleted in Mission Maker. Removing the app removes its local app data; Keychain trial dates may remain. Operating-system backups may include app data according to your Apple settings. Manage those backups separately. We cannot recover local missions from a server.
Parent support and websites
Purchases, restore and external links are behind a parental gate. If a parent emails support, we receive the email address, message and attachments. Do not send children’s names, photos, voices or other personal details. We use correspondence only to provide support, not advertising. Our company mailbox uses Tencent business email; Hailink Labs in China may access support messages. Messages are retained for no longer than 12 months after the issue closes unless an ongoing issue or legal obligation requires longer.
This website has no analytics, tracking scripts, accounts or contact forms. GitHub Pages processes technical requests such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. Parents can email us to request access, correction or deletion of support information. We may verify the request using the relevant email address. Material policy changes will be explained here with an updated effective date.
